Mitra Mandala, a Circle of Friends

Mitra Mandala has been designed, with the encouragement given by the Sri Siva Vishnu Temple, as a Hindu community outreach program for families and individuals in the Greater Washington area. For immigrant families new to the United States it is often hard to find the traditional support and guidance of relatives and friends that was once readily available. This service aims to help people survive difficult circumstances such as family conflicts, serious illnesses, and grief. It is dedicated to rebuilding the communal ties to a culture that many have left behind.

Tales from India

Panchatantra is a book that teaches people the basic interpersonal skills. It is misconceived that these are children’s stories. Panchatantra was written for the purpose of educating people on the ability to analyze debate and make wise choices. There are simplistic messages that are in the form of a message from each story. But within the stories are the innumerable dialogues that discuss and refute each message, presenting another perspective even as one opinion is explained. It teaches the student to think and introspect with a good amount of common sense.

It airs on Saturday mornings at 10.30 AM on Image-in-Asian television on MHz network.
